I have been scouring my Twitter universe for great sites that pertain to Earth Day. Most of them are posted here, but some of them require more than a 140 character description. Earth Day – a time to teach your class about our environment and how to preserve our planet, is such a global (pardon the pun) opportunity for education.
Going without shoes to represent the need for shoes for children around the world, social media and it's impact on the fight against malaria, recycling efforts, global warming and climate change---wow! I think we need an Earth year, or possibly an Earth life, which now as I typed it made perfect sense.
I hope your Earth Day provides you with opportunities to not only teach your students, but learn from them. This will be their Earth.

Marie I am so sorry! What a week you've had! I can't believe that Clay County's CTO has nothing better to do than monitor a teacher's Internet activity. Talk about being stuck in the past - he clearly has no idea how Web 2.0 tools can be integrated into instructional best practices. A bigger question is WHY in the world is someone without an instructional position, that being a technical one, making decisions regarding instructional practice?????? All he can do is determine what sites you've been on and for how long, he has no way of knowing what you did there. I would appeal the decision and show them what you've been doing. I'm sorry - but as someone who worked in the classroom, the IT department and in instructional technology, this really has me fired up. I'm on Team Marie.
